CNN's Best Places to Live: Part 2

If you are looking for the right place to live and work, you may be interested to know that CNN has compiled a list of the hundred best small towns in the United States. Knowing where you want to live can often be a large part of choosing your next career move.

Third on CNN’s list was Naperville, IL with a population of 142,900. This is the third time that Naperville has been listed. With a highly accessible downtown area, and a very popular River walk, Naperville has a great entertainment aspect. However, it also has a great deal of job opportunity.

Chicago is a short drive away, offering a large quantity of jobs. On top of that, Naperville offers jobs with companies like Edward Hospital, Nicor Gas, BP America, Lucent and Tellabs. In addition, the schools in Naperville consistently outscore the state average on college entrance exams.

Number four was Irvine, CA with a population of 193,900. This city was designed in the 1960s by William Pereira when the University of California commissioned him to create a new campus and town. Irvine is very family friendly with school districts winning national recognition for test scores, curriculums, and year round schedules.

While the University is the largest employer, there are several other companies like Gateway and St. John’s Knits that are also based here. The major drawback is housing cost with the average three bedroom two bathroom house running $700,000.
