Good Resume Formats

Resumes are a very important aspect of the job-searching process. They provide information about candidates’ qualifications, background, and general readiness for the position. But the content of a resume is not all that matters. Even the format of the resume matters.

One reason that the resume format matters is because a good format makes the resume easier to read. Often times, resumes have a lot of information. In such a case, a good resume format will maintain space between the text so that the text is not jammed together. That way, the resume is easy to read. An easy to read resume is important because interviewers often have a lot job applicants, and a lot of resumes to go through. If a resume is easy to read, then they may be more likely to spend time to read the resume.

Another reason that the format of a resume matters is because it reveals something about the applicant. A well formatted, well organized resume reveals that the applicant likely is organized and focused. A poorly formatted and organized resume, however, reflects that an applicant is likely disorganized and unreliable. With that in mind, it is not altogether surprising that interviewers will offer an interview to the applicant with a good resume and not to someone with a bad resume.

The resume is like a piece of art. Both the content and the format of a resume come together to create an impression of the job candidate. Often times, the resume is the very first impression that interviewers get of a candidate. That is why it is crucial not only to have excellent resume content but also to have a good resume format.
