Texas Legal RecruitersThe LSAT Part of the process of becoming a lawyer involves going law school, and part of the process of getting into law school involves taking the Law School Admissions Test, or LSAT. As the name of the test implies it is used for people applying to law school, similar to how high school students who are applying to college take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the college American College Testing (ACT), people applying to business school take the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or Graduate Records Examination (GRE), and people applying to medical schools take the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). Each of these tests is created specifically to test the aptitude of the test-taker related to what the test-taker is pursuing, and the LSAT is no exception. The LSAT tests for things that lawyers will have to be good at. The LSAT website lists three broad categories that the test encompasses: reading comprehension, analytical reasoning, and logical reasoning. Consequently, the score of the LSAT reflects not only how well the test takers does on the test as a whole but also how one does on each section. This allows the test taker as well as laws schools to get a more nuanced understanding of what the score means. LSAT scores are very important to law schools, and many people believe that a high LSAT score and good performance as an undergraduate student can all but guarantee admission into a good law school, though law schools do, of course look at other factors.
