Many times, getting a new job means moving to a new city. There is not always a choice between various cities, but often there can be. An expanding job market is always a good thing in a city because it means that people will continue to move to the city, expanding diversity and continuing to drive up property values. Also, it will probably make your new job more secure because there will be fewer unemployed people looking for work. A growing job market goes hand in hand with a strong economy.

Of course, non-work activities are important for your quality of life, and many cities have very good park facilities, recreation spots, professional sports, music venues, and the like. For many people, these quality of life factors are very influential in their choice of where to live.
