Kiplinger Magazine recently designated the top ten US cities to live, work, and play. Two cities in Texas ranked in the top ten, with Houston being named the number one city in America. In creating this ranking, the magazine looked for places with strong economies, abundant jobs, reasonable living costs, and lots of fun activities. The team was urged to find communities that were not just prosperous in the past but are predicted to be successful in the future.

One of the measurements used in the calculations was the percentage of the population employed in creative fields such as science, architecture, engineering, education, art, writing, and entertainment.
