CNN's Best Places to Live: Part 1

Some people dream of living in one certain location for all of their lives. Other people are happy living where they are. Still others just want to live wherever they will have the best quality of life. That may be where a person wants to live, or somewhere that person has never heard of.

CNN listed the top one hundred best small cities in the United States. This ranking was based on the availability of jobs, the quality of schools, the affordability of housing and other such factors. Shown below are some of the results of that ranking.

With a population of 70,100, Plymouth, MN came in at number one. This city has all of the aforementioned factors as well as low crime and an active outdoor culture. The average three bedroom two bathroom house sells for $350,000, and the main school district is one of the top three in the state. On top of that, the nation’s largest mall, the Mall of America, is only a quick drive away. If you can handle the winter cold, Plymouth is a great city for a family.

Coming in at number two, with a population of 129,400, is Fort Collins, CO. In this Rocky Mountain city, every new road has a bike lane, making it a very bike friendly city. Employment is high due to bioscience and technology companies like Agilent Technologies, Hewlett-Packard and Kodak. This is also the home of Colorado State University. The schools here are top notch, but have been overcrowded recently. However, officials are remedying this.
